Cross peg solitaire solution
The cross board has 33 holes. Fill all of them but the center, and it can be cleared down to one peg sitting right back in the middle. Step through the 31 jumps below. Holes are numbered row by row from the top.
Things that help
- Work one arm of the cross at a time. Clear the top arm, then the sides, and leave the bottom for last.
- Don't strand pegs at the tips of the arms. A peg out there with no neighbor can never be jumped.
- Think in threes. Many clean sequences take a row of three pegs and remove two of them, leaving the board shaped the way it was.
- If you get to one peg but not in the center, that still counts as a great board. The center finish is the extra challenge.
How to score it
One peg in the center is perfect. One peg anywhere is excellent. Two or three left is a good board. Four or more, set it up and go again.
